        This nonprofit site is devoted to breaking a toxic ancestral [wounds + unawareness] cycle that stresses us all directly or indirectly. I propose this cycle after studying personal and family problems professionally since 1981. During that time, I have never found any any other version of the multi-level cycle portrayed here - nor any research that confirms the whole cycle. I have found many research studies that confirm parts of the cycle.

         If we don't break this lethal cycle, I fear it will expand to tip the factors described by Jared Diamond in his well-researched book "Collapse" toward destruction of our society and environment. This progres-sive cycle CAN be broken. See options following the table below.

5)  U.S. media glorifying death, violence, sex, and immediate gratification...

... so cycle repeats and spreads down our generations

        I suspect this cycle applies to every other society on the planet. What do you think?

  Solutions

        This diagram proposes a complex multi-decade social dynamic that average people and many human-service professionals cannot see or will deny.

        This means that they will continue to try solving surface "problems" (red columns above) without affecting the primary problems causing them. ''Dig down'' skill in Lesson 2 provides a way that anyone can uncover at least their secondary problems.

        Options for breaking this cycle include enforceable federal and state laws requiring that...

  • funding be provided to test and verify or disprove this proposed toxic cycle;

  • all high school, college, and military text books and curricula must explain the cycle objectively, and school and teaching certification must require demonstrated staff knowledge of it,

Are you concerned about this cycle?polls View poll results
  • human-service licensing must include testing for comprehension of the cycle and its impacts on people and families;

  • immigrants must demonstrate comprehension of the cycle and its effects before citizenship is granted;

    marriage licensing must include mandatory education on the cycle and screening for psychologi-cal wounds

  • public and private health clinics must include programs to help participants understand, assess for, and reduce psychological wounds - specially if they're parents

  • jail inmates must receive mandatory education on the cycle and its effects, and optional counsel-ing toward reducing psychological wounds;

  • doctors and clergy must inform pregnant couples of this toxic cycle and what it can mean to them and any descendents;

  • the media must be encouraged or required to weave knowledge of this cycle into their program-ming, including public service announcements;

  • welfare programs must inform their clients of the cycle and its effects and provide optional screening for psychological wounds.

        Laws like these will not happen unless legislators (a) understand and accept the cycle and its effects, or (b) federal and state governments are required by the voters to enact such laws. Because of epidemic wounds + denial + unawareness, the latter us unlikely.

        Lesson 8 in this nonprofit website offers rationale and options for alerting other people to this cycle, and its effects on them and their families.
