About the Irresponsible Subself

Try saying your definition  of "responsibility" out loud. Then think of someone who you feel is "irresponsible." What criteria do you use to make that judgment? Common criteria are honesty, reliability, dependability, sincerity, dutiful, loyalty, and dedication.

Some wounded people have a subself that can promote "irresponsible" or "immature" behavior - i.e. they are untrustworthy and undependable. This part may be an Inner Child who wants to avoid taking on adult responsibilities ("I don't want to grow up!"). It nay also be a Guardian subself who yearns to avoid confining responsibilities to be free to live exactly as s/he wants to,  regardless of how that may affect other people.

Would other people judge you to be a responsible person?
